Black Day April 14

Min Bang Whey 민방위

For the last couple of weeks I have noticed a lot of lanterns hanging over the sidewalks in the Bundang area. There have also been a lot of flags put up where usually the korean flags are put up just before a National holiday. The signs say 'Min Bang Whey' which i have heard is for a day where sirens will blare from the district office. This is supposed to be an 'People Attention Exercise'. Apparently, this was a weekly exercise in the past where students at school would have to take cover under their desks, to prepare for any posible attacks from the divided country north of South Korea. I guess there was a siren today at 2 pm but I never heard it....

Also, today is April 14th which in Korea is Black Day. This is a day where if you're single, and you didn't get any chocolate on March 14th, you should eat noodles with black bean sauce. (자짱면) Ja jjang myun I didn't have any though, ate some the other day, but I think a lot of Chinese restaurants were busy today delivering all those noodles!
