The Dentist

Excruciating Pain....
I don't know if there is anyone that likes going to the dentist. The smell of it, the sounds of the dental equipment cleaning teeth, and people screaming in pain everytime the dentist reaches in their mouth! I went the other day because I had an old filling come out. I was really delaying going there but I finally decided to go on Friday because it was starting to hurt a little. Well, I got there and they didn't speak any English. My Korean skills aren't bad but when it comes to Dentistry vocabulary, I don't have any experience and don't really want to either. But I wish I did that day! I wasn't sure exactly what the dentist had said but I understood "Nerve Treatment"! That made me shiver....but I knew I needed to get it done. Well, I don't think they put enough novocaine to freeze it so when she stuck the stainless steel instrument in my mouth and near the tooth, I nearly jumped through the window. She asked me if it hurt and I was too busy swearing under my breath. Anyways, just when I thought the worst part was over, I saw here pick up this long needle like thing and she stuck it in the hole of my tooth. Well, I thought that was just the most painful thing I've ever experienced in my life! So I decided not to go there again today for my next appointment. It was just too painful! I will find another dentist that can speak English enough to understand that i want a lot of painkiller and no pain at all, knock me out if you have to!
Also, don't you just hate that lamp that shines right in your eyes!

Hi Dave,

I had a similar experience when I lived in Poland - only with a root canal. The dentist kept on asking "Pain?" as tears were rolling down my cheek...yep there was pain, and lots of Polish Vodka afterwards. Cartainly not lot Dr. Kerr...remember him?

Hi Dave (and Fred),
Well, I guess it runs in the family, our dentist experiences... I too had to have nerve treatments done, here in Holland, instead of Canada, but the difference was that I could communicate with the dentist. Not that that really helped, though, because it still hurt like hell and I think I was also cursing under my breath! Where is Dr. Kerr when you need him, eh?! Ask Mom about her dislike of dentists... and how when she was younger Pake chased her and Omme Henk to the dentists on their bikes!
