It's Monday here and it's Teacher's Day, one of the many days that is celebrated in May. There was Children's Day and Buddha's birthday on May 5 and Parent's Day on May 8th and today, Teacher's Day. Actually yesterday was Mother's Day in Canada and the U.S. but here in Korea it was 'Yellow Day'. Smart businessmen that don't want to lose business chances came up with a day every month following Feb.14, Valentine's Day. Following that is March 14, White Day, when men who received chocolate from women on Valentine's Day are expected to return the favor but with white chocolate.
Black Day is on April 14, where people that didn't receive any chocolate on either day should wear black, drink black coffee, and eat Jajangmyun, noodles with black bean sauce.
And Yellow Day, May 14, not as popular as the others, is a day for eating curry.
June 14 is Kiss Day. July 14 is Silver Day. Men and women are supposed to introduce each other's girlfriend or boyfriend to their parents.
August 14 is Green Day, when couples go hiking on mountains, but singles drink "green" soju.
September 14 is Photo Day which is followed by Wine Day, October 14, Orange Day, (Nov.14), and Hugging Day (Dec.14).
Also November 11 is 'Pepero Day' where kids give each other Pepero, chocolate covered sticks because they look like a 1.
February 22 is 2 Percent Day for drinking the soft drink 2%. Also if you don't like someone, you can send unpleasant gifts to people you don't like on April 4th because the number 4 means bad luck or death!
