It's Like Cana-duh Eh!

On Saturday evening, I met up with Billy and Chris. Chris took the KTX from Daegu and we met at the coffee bean and then grabbed a taxi to a kimchi restaurant in Jeongjadong. We were starving and talking about how grumpy we could get if we reached a certain point of not eating. I know for myself that if I'm really hungry, I usually try to stay quiet because everything I say makes me sound like a cranky old man! So we went to the kimchi restaurant which has almost everything except one dish made of kimchi. We ordered the Kimchi stew, the kimchi-beef stew, and some kimchi Mandu. Chris wanted to order some more but I said that it was already a lot for 3. I've been to the place several times and everyone said the food is great. While we were eating it started to snow.....

Later on, Paul met up with us at Billy's apartment. At first, we were just hanging out, talking, looking at some old videos of Billys, and then he read us some of his writing that he's been doing lately. When Paul arrived, things heated up a little. He came from his school party after a few drinks. It was really snowing by then and we were all having a good laugh off of the partaken substances. I decided it was time to take a drive in the snow and do some wheelies! Chris tried to throw a couple of snowballs at me while the car was warming up but he soon realized that I too was a man from the Great White North. Silly Hoser. Well, we got the car out and uncovered from snow. We didn't do any wheelies but we did manage to lock the brakes up a few times and go for a slide down a few hills. Good adolescent fun! It doesn't snow very much here and I really enjoy it when it does. (just for a few hours) But it was a good night. We didn't drink very much at all which was nice for a change.

Most of the snow is still here where I live, but when I went to Seoul on Sunday, most of it had already melted. I met a friend for a coffee and lunch. We had some Vietnamese noodles which are always nice in the winter and then to Coffee Bean. It's the same girl I met a few weeks ago in Itaewon. She is very nice and down to earth which is hard to find in this flighty world. Very polite, kind and sincere. We talked about my life in Korea and the differences between Canada and Korea. She seemed really interested in Canada, Toronto especially, but we both agreed that to live there for a long time is a different story. We talked about Korea town in Toronto as well. Her sister later met up with us and joined the conversation. They had both recently got back to Korea from Canada as well. We spoke almost all in Korean. When I couldn't say something in Korean, I would switch to English for a few words and then back. Communicating was quite easy and it's great to know a couple of really nice girls in the area where I will probably be living next year when I come back. Before I left Gangnam for Bundang, we ate again at a Pojang macha which is an outdoor street vendor. We had some ddokpokki (rice cake and fish cakes in hot red pepper sauce) and some Odeng (boiled fish cakes). It was a really cold night there and eating at an outdoor vendor in the middle of the winter is as Korean Culturish as you get! I really like the area of Gangnam and I think it will be a great place to live next year! By the time I got back to Bundang, I was ready to eat again...
