Freezing Rain, Snow, Freezing Rain....

I can honestly say that if someone wanted to go visit Canada in the winter instead of the summer I might slap them for such a silly statement. Let's face it. It is terrible weather in Canada in the winter and February is the month which makes a lot of people grumpy. It's getting near the end of winter and people are just getting sick of it. A common topic for people to discuss IS the weather and this often relates to the condition of the roads and then to the politicians who don't do enough about them which means that the tax payers are being deceived. Common talk in Canada. Someone said the other day, "You came to Canada in the winter"? Yes, I did.....

Paul and I rented a minivan for the trip to Ottawa, the capital of Canada. It took us about 5 1/2 hours which in Canada is about an average drive to a cottage for the weekend or going to visit some friends. Most of the time when you're driving on the highway, there is nothing but flat land with lots and lots of space. All you really need is some Fuel and Food....and a coffee from Tim Horton's.

But if you go too fast and get caught, there are some stiff prices to pay for speeding....

It was nice to see some of the old buildings in Ottawa and appreciate some good architecture. These buildings are quite old for Canada and they looked very nice on a sunny but cold day on Parliament Hill.

It was nice to see the buildings which I have seen many times before but always in the summer, never in the winter. I guess traveling in the winter is different and cool as long as it's not too cold. I can hack it for another 5 days.....
