A Long Tuesday....

After 40 minutes into a 9 hour and 40 minute flight from Hong Kong to Anchorage, I decided from the menu that I would have the Braised Fish Fillet, steamed rice and stir fried broccoli. It wasn't bad but eating on a flight is like eating in a crammed pack cafeteria except the person next to you isn't your class or football mate, it's a stranger. I started off with a Chivas and Coke, hoping the guy next to me would do the same. You know, have a few drinks with the person you're going to sit beside for 10 hours, have a chat, go to sleep, and the flight will go by much easier and faster. But this guy wasn't much for small talk, not even a drink. I had a few red wines after that, to hopefully help me dose off.

The night before I had a nice dinner with my director, manager, and Billy. She said it was my choice for dinner so I didn't hesitate and said "Bulgogi"! As most of you know, this is Korean barbecued beef. We also had some Korean barbecued Pork (marinated). The director ordered way too much. Billy and I ate a lot and Billy kept feeding our manager some wine.

I actually got back home around 3am. I met a friend for a couple of beers and some 'Jipo' and nuts after I was at Billy's house. We had a good chat and listened to some Korean Ballads. It was a Classic moment, I thought. The exact thing I wanted to do before I left.....although I listened to my share of Korean music on the flight. It helped me relax and sleep.....

After a couple of beers and dried fish and nuts, I went back home, tried to get some sleep and woke up at 5:30 am for the long trip. There was almost nothing left in my place except my bags and a few clothes. This time leaving was a little strange. The other times I left Korea, I had an apartment to go back to, but this time I left knowing that I won't have a place to go back to.....at least not my own place.

Korea is being missed already, but knowing who's back there and knowing that I'm already missed is a great feeling. It was great to see the emails from everybody already, welcoming me back here to Canada and looking forward to seeing me when I get back to Korea. Thanks guys!
