WorldCup Fever!!

It was a wonderful weekend of football. Gareth came up from Ulsan and I met him at Samsung Plaza. It was raining quite a lot on Saturday. I guess it's the rainy season here now. We decided to take Gareth to a great Samgyopsal place one subway stop from Samsung Plaza in Sunaedong. They have some great places to eat there. They marinate the samgyopsal in red pepper sauce and it's very tender and tasty food. After that we went back to Samsung Plaza and watched the England game, and then the Sweden game and then the Argentina and Ivory Coast game. I watched highlights of that game again yesterday and it could be a tough game for the Dutch.



I bought a shirt for the England match and wore it with Gareth and Paul so he returned the favor and wore a dutch shirt for the game last night.



On the way to the game, we stopped here to get a picture with some statues of Guus Hiddink and Dick Advocaat. They really are heroes here! We had to take it quick because the game was about to start in 10 minutes.



Well, I was right...I picked Robben to be Man of the Match. He did one better and was voted Man of the Day! Great game Robben! I knew he would score, he was on fire and was right into the game. Today, I'm just staying at home taking a rest from 3 days of football. Australia just scored and as I am writing this just scored again. What an amazing comeback! 3-1 after being down 0-1 with less than 10 minutes to play! It looks like Hiddink will be a hero again but this time in Australia.



Well around here, everyone is SO excited about the game tomorrow. Some kids said to me that the WorldCup is starting tomorrow. I told them it already started but what they meant to say was that Korea plays. So I decided to do some face painting with some of the kids. I'll be meeting Paul and a few other people for the game as well and I'll wear my red shirt too. It's really great living in a country that is mad about football!! People don't know the name of the new president of Korea but they know all the names of the soccer players!
