Driving to Pauls the other day, I was honked at and asked for directions somewhere. It was so funny! It's not the first time it's happened. I have been asked so many times and it's so hilarious to see the driver's reaction when I roll down the window and say 'What's up?' They usually fumble with some words for a few seconds and then just ask in Korean or English. It's usually like this...the wife.."Wow, it's a foreigner"..and the husband "Umm..excuse me..."
Anyways, the guy asked me the other day where Seoul Hospital was...in Korean too. I wasn't sure exactly but I knew that there was a big hospital in the area and told him to just keep driving straight and after Samsung Plaza take a right and just follow the signs. I hope he got there ok.
Yesterday, we started our 3 month Tests and Evaluations at school. It's really surprising to see some of the students suddenly speak with full sentences and excellent pronunciation! I did 34 Speaking Tests so I was a little tired of talking at the end of the day. Overall the students really didn't do too well on the writing part of the tests. One student even said "Teacher, what"! when I just handed him the test. It really goes to show that some of the students are in levels that aren't suited to them and just there to keep their parents happy. The Korean Education System needs a lot of improvement when it comes to ESL.
The picture above by the way is of Bill and Connie and my Mom and Dad and James and Michael. James(the older boy) is living with my parents in London and Bill, Connie and Michael live pretty close to where I live here in Bundang.
One more thing, yesterday was my sister's birthday so Happy Birthday to her and also to Paul's Dad who celebrated on the same day!
