Can you feel it yet?

Last Thursday, I was picked up by Rufina and her son. I met her around the Family Mart a couple of weeks ago and she asked me if I could model for some pictures for her son's portfolio. We went to Yeoju for the second time to get some day pictures of the large pot making. On the way there, there was a song playing.."Last Christmas" you know..the one by George Michael. Except it wasn't George Michael, it was a Korean singer doing a cover of it with a little hip hop mix. He did a pretty good job of it and I started to 'feel' the Christmas spirit! This time of the year always makes me think of other years in December and that day I was thinking of when I used to work at the Gap. They used to play the best Christmas music and always made me want to take a break and buy some gifts for someone! Isn't that what Christmas should be? The spirit of giving, not just with gifts, but just merely giving your time to a friend or a loved one! This year's Christmas, more than any other year since I've been in Korea, I wish I could be with my family along with all my friends, Dad, Mom, Fred and Melissa, Lukas and Owen, Crystal and Jan and Illiana, Paul and Jim and Irene, Jackie and Noree and kids, Billy G, Daegu Chris, Rob, Tony K, Clement and Hee Sook, Dan and Minjung, just to mention a few. I will see a lot of you soon though, and a lot of you in February!

So on the way, I decided to take some notes of the dream I had the night before while I could still remember. It has nothing to do with Christmas by the way. More of thinking about going home in February I think. Only Freud could interpret this........or could he?

The Dream

There were a bunch of us driving, not sure who all of us were but I know my Dad was driving the tractor trailer. We were trying to take a left turn onto a street(Highbury Ave) when the light was green but we couldn't. Everyone kept speeding through the red light so it was impossible to make a left turn. Finally I got out and tried to stop the cars, yelling:

"Stop going through the red light"!

Finally there was a clearing and we were able to make a left turn, but just barely. A car had to swerve at the last second to avoid smacking the back of the trailer. Next thing I was talking to Paul's Dad and we were examining the light from a distance and realized that looking at the light from a certain angle it looked green while at another angle it was red, kind of like one of those 3D cards that change color while you move it to a different angle. And even though there was a toll gate at the top of the bridge, people were just driving through it and not even stopping.

It was a strange and vivid one but I was glad that I could remember so many details of it at the same time. As we arrived in Yeoju around 9 am and as I finished the third coffee, I realized that this was the earliest I woke up in a long time. 7 o'clock?? That's just too much like normal living!!!

sorry for the old picture Fred, but I like that one! the last time I was in Canada for Christmas.

yeah, it sucks when you can remember some of it but not enough to fill in the holes in between
