Flying somewhere over Europe

The View

Finally a shot of what the view is like from my place. It's still not fully furnished. It's a place to lay my hat for the time being. It was pretty dusty for a while in and around Seoul, the 'yellow dust' from China's Gobi. It's not so bad now but I think a lot of people got sick from the combination of the dust and the drastic change in temperatures. If you mention anything related to the dust to a Korean person, they're really quick to add that it's not from Korea!

Well, I got the same phonecall from Rob. He, in a roundabout way, apologized for the ordeal that took place in Ottawa. But, I'm glad he called.....I don't think it's easy for him to be where he is now.....back in Ottawa, Canada. He was forced to go back there when his father got very sick and eventually passed away. His father was strong enough to hold off until his youngest son, Rob got there. He passed away just a few hours later. Like I said, I'm glad he finally called.

Yesterday, I started some Saturday classes. The kids are really quite clever and enjoyable. It's so great because near the end of one class, a student said 'Teacher, this is a conversation class, so let's just have a chat and practice our conversation skills'. (from an 11 year old) That class is using the book Side by Side 4, pretty high level. It's a little bit hard working 51/2 hours, 4 classes in a row but it's worth the money and more importantly, teaching those kids. I got lucky finding that place, with the great staff and students.

Back to the trip and Flying with Emirates, over the clouds somewhere over Europe. This was the best flight, compared to Cathay Pacific, Easyjet, and Zoom Airlines. Manchester to Dubai. Great staff and service. Also a great view over the clouds. Paul and I met a woman flight attendant from Liverpool and she brought us drinks and a great assortment of breads.

It was amazing flying into Dubai. Lights everywhere and people everywhere in the airport. It's one of the fastest growing cities in the world and right now 70% of the worlds cranes are there building new places every day.

Hi Dave! This is so weird. Our dads ran into eachother a while ago and I thought I'd google you and didn't expect to see your whole life, practically, "out there" on the web. Anyways, I'll keep this short & sweet. I'm so happy that you're living such an exciting and adventourous life. I'm happy to report that 15+years later (ugh!), I'm also doing very well, happily married with a 3-year old daughter, Mckenna. Anyways, I wasn't going to write anything but thought, what the heck! I did want to let you know that I saw your blog and again, happy that you're doing well and living a fun & cool life...wild! You always loved the camera too & haven't changed much! :)

All the best!
