Seoul Pub

The other day, during one of my classes, a student asked me if it was hard for foreigners to learn Korean. I thought about it and said that anybody that comes to Korea can pick up easy phrases like Thank you, Hello, and Goodbye but to actually learn the language is not easy at all. To really learn Korean you have to study hard or have a Korean boyfriend or girlfriend. We had a good conversation and I was explaining to him that the English Dictionary adds new words to it every year. He said that they don't add words to the Korean dictionary. I was surprised at first but realized that's probably true being in Korea. Speaking of Korean, I registered for the Korean Proficiency Test next month. It's at the end of the month so I have over a month to get prepared for it. I'm not sure how difficult it is but it doesn't really matter. It's something I've wanted to do for a while now.

The pictures of these ex-students and I were taken at Seoul Pub. They were great students and didn't ask questions that threw me off because they have all lived abroad. Because of students like these, they have made me appreciate Korea a lot.

I just got back from Japan. I went there for one night for a visa run. The only Japanese words I know are 'sushi' , 'Arigato' and 'Hi' but when someone said Hi to me I just said Hi back thinking they were speaking English! Anyways, it made me realize that when you don't know the language of the country, it forces you to try to communicate with the people more and made me think that I should really try to communicate more in Korean rather than relying on everybody to speak English in their own country!
